Today I saw Lindsay Lohan on the cover of a magazine supposedly wasted again. This has become normal for Miss Lohan and they are not portraying it favorably. I would have to interject with if it was Lady Gaga she would receive an award. Whats the difference? Charlie Sheen is committing adultery and using pornography. He’s rich and seemingly has it all. Is this acceptable because of his money and status? Tiger Woods is another figure who has fallen into adultery with the use of pornography. Why is it better for Charlie Sheen than Tiger Woods? Mr. Woods has received much more negative publicity while Mr. Sheen’s behavior has been sensationalized in a positive manner. We see these contrasts and they are inaccurate. It is okay for one but for another it is not? One has to wonder who set that standard.
In the music industry drugs are an accepted norm what ever the reason may be. For the most part it is considered a positive, a way to supposedly enhance artistic ability. But not so for gangsta rappers. Drugs and gangsta rap are a negative? Could someone please explain this to me. When has illicit sex or drug use ever been a positive? How can we deem it cool for some but uncool for others? Where did that thinking come from and when did these subtle’s become accepted. Are these opinions right? Do you see the discrepancies in what has become “accepted norm’s”?

An accepted norm is a prevalent attitude concerning something. Can you think of something you believe to be true but maybe isn’t but because everyone accepts it to be true you believe it. There is an attitude concerning the things of God that have become accepted norms that as an American I cannot accept. For instance, we are not to speak of God in public when by our own government Evolution is classified under religion because it is a belief system yet it is taught in the public schools. I thought “religion” was not allowed? Who told us that and why do we accept it as truth?
The number one fallacy of the day is the separation of church and state. If you do some research you will find that clause was put there to protect the church and its believers from the state interfering with their right to assemble or worship. Many of our forefathers came to America seeking freedom from religious persecution. They wanted to prevent that from happening but it is happening before our very eyes. Today we can talk about anything but the God of the Bible. That kind of God talk is censored!
The discrimination is heavy and some say the Christian religion has been reduced to a theory. If it is theory then it has a place in our schools next to the evolutionary theory that is taught as truth when in fact it is but a theory. I say it has been reduced further than that to an unmentionable. The one’s preaching tolerance seem to have none for the Christian God. They are trying to push God out of everything. Why is okay for some to talk about their belief systems and not others? A belief system is just something you “believe” to be true. Our government at least got that one right. As an American, who has freedom of speech and religion, I refuse to be silent because of an incorrect accepted norm. I believe in Jesus Christ and have the right to speak openly about it. It is what I believe.
America was known as the great melting pot by the 1780‘s. In 1970 we became known as the great salad bowl. No, we do not all look alike or sound alike, this is America and that is why I agree with the salad bowl metaphor. As for the idea of the melting pot that could be applied to the tolerance message of today. That no matter what you believe to be true it is your right as an American. The only time I draw an intolerant line is in regards to children. That is another discussion altogether but a discussion about rights as well. Slavery has been abolished and to that I say amen. Let tolerance be what we now embrace as long as the same courtesy is given to all.
Hey great job on your blog this week I really enjoyed reading it. It was fun to read it made me realize a couple of things that I did no t see before. Like the fact that there a numerous celebrities who have committed adultery and used pornography and some are punished and their careers become ruined and others careers continue on as if they had never done anything wrong. Lady gaga is a perfect example of someone who is getting away with many things that others would be punished for. Her music videos are filled with naked people and almost every theme of her song is about sex. Her lyrics talk about how being homosexual is ok and all these others things that are not right. She even dresses up as a man now and then and goes out in public like if she was not doing anything wrong. And I agree with your point about drugs and music. I think that it is not looked as being positive for gangsta rappers to use them in their music because more kids look up to the gangsta rappers than any others. Some even consider them role models, so if they talk about drugs and killing people some kids might take those lyrics literally and act upon them. Again great job on this blog! (Cosmic thoughts)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I noticed that today in Hollywood, some stars get away with things that others don’t. Lindsey Lohan is in the picture right now a lot I notice she is on a lot of entertainment channels and magazines. I think that instead of constantly talking about what celebrities are doing, they should talk about the real matters in the world. Lady Gaga doesn’t get as much criticism that she needs to get for the bad things she does. A lot of teens look up to Lady Gaga and she does drugs and promotes sex in her songs and concerts. When Miley Cyrus for example, smoked a natural herb in a pipe there was a lot of controversy over that. So yes there is a lot of cover up and favoring in the music industry. I think that Tiger woods and Charlie Sheen both did a bad thing and I think it is all about who pays more money to cover up for their mistakes. I noticed rappers like Lil Wayne are promoting a lot of drugs and sexual content in his music. I also see that the name of “God” is slowly being swept under the rug and not mentioned as much as it should on television. I know that in schools, at least in this country religions and God are not allowed to talked about, but it is ok to talk about Hitler who didn’t do very many goods things to people. The government is making their own “bible” in their ways and ignoring the “holy bible”. There is no freedom in this country, average people can’t give their opinion but high class people can. So it just shows how greed and whoever has more money can get away with whatever they want. You did a very nice job and made many good points.
ReplyDeleteFirst off kudos to you my dear, its true that Hollywood is inherently retarded favoring stupidity. Hollywood is the most superficial place on the planet I mean look at it for Pete sakes they favor drunkards and drug abusers. Now I am not judging anyone; I’ve done my fair share of stupidity but still Hollywood favors what makes more money. Charlie Sheen is an example of hedonism and chaos. The man is clearly not in his right mind but people still flock to him because of his c ego. Charlie use of pornography is more expectable to people because of his elusive behavior compared to the model citizen appeal of Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods is a more of a role model person his gifts and talents are to be praised and honored so when Mr. Woods messes up his accountability the public is more reluctant to crufic him compared to Charlie Sheen who is expected to make an ass out himself. I also liked what you said about not praying in public good touch I feel the same way because the country is so politically correct towards Muslims and other religious groups but when it comes to Christians they stomp them out when the Christians are the ones saving life’s and sending money to make the world a better place.
